HOW
WE MAKE THEM
SAFER.
EASIER.
FASTER.
Full Length Barrel Whelps
By eliminating the unnecessary double whelped barrel, we remove the sharp ridge separating the two and its resulting dangerous cut point. This makes operations safer and extends the life of cordage.
Compact Height
Bigger is not always better. With a more compact height, we designed our capstan head with plenty of space to meet wrap requirements for modern cordage and for ease of use for deck hands of all sizes.
Triple-Sealed Slewing Bearing Design
Using a slewing bearing instead of a traditional shaft and bushing combination allowed us to achieve a more rigid construction–and a smoother and more consistent operation. Adding triple positive pressure seals to that bearing design helps keep the water under your boat, and not in it.
Tapered Base
A capstan base with a square profile has multiple disadvantages including the simple fact that round rope does not naturally feed onto the head of a square configuration, and must be manually raised onto the barrel. Often times this is done with the deckhand's boot, putting them in a dangerous situation. Second, the rope cannot build tension around the large diameter of the base to snap onto the drum. Our tapered design eliminates dangerous shock loading, makes operations safer, and extends the life of the product.
21st Century Pegs
All of our pegs are made from 304 stainless steel as opposed to traditional materials that deteriorate. With threaded shanks and flats for installing or removing easily with a wrench, operators no longer have to haphazardly pound pegs in with a hammer, and hope that they stay put.
